It started with a personal interest in the magic of healthy flavourful foods, a desire to work in a warm and sunny greenhouse, a compulsion to promote ecological growing practices, and an aspiration to more efficiently grow better food. All this drew Ian Adamson to start experimenting with Microgreens in 1998.
In 2010 Ian realized his vision of opening Greenbelt Microgreens. Making use of his considerable experience, he immediately commenced producing and distributing Certified Organic Microgreens. With reliable help from his dedicated staff, they dependably supply many quality retailers and acclaimed chefs directly from Toronto’s Greenbelt. These customers in turn provide incredibly fresh Microgreens for the region’s most discriminating consumers.

We started growing asparagus in 1982. My wife Claudia canned and pickled our produce for our own consumption. My sons and I just loved her recipe for pickled asparagus and you just can’t keep something like that all to yourself. We gave some to our friends as gifts. Of course, they just kept asking for more… and our business sprouted nicely from there.
With the help of our sons — Josh, Ben and Adrian — and Claudia’s wonderful creativity in the kitchen, we now offer 23 types of pickles. Half are certified organic. We do not use preservatives, fillers or additives. All the vegetables are processed right away, fresh from our fields. You can taste the sunshine in them.
We invite you to try our products. We know you’ll be thankful for the sun that shines down on our fields. Moreover, we will also be thankful; to have you as a customer.

A quest for great beer, a love of good food and the desire to create an example of agriculture that not only showcases but inspires others to embrace a similar mindset, is what prompted us to purchase a farm and start growing hops. We feel obliged to try and put the ‘culture’ back into the ‘agriculture’ of our local area. We strive to be an example for others who want to balance being an entrepreneur and a steward to the land, whilst making a living by doing what they love.

Our emphasis on certification is part of our enduring goal to produce great wines with a sense of place. And undergoing third-party certification is also essential to the leadership role we have committed ourselves to. Certification demonstrates that commitment in a verified, measurable way.
We handcraft these wines with grapes from our biodynamic vineyards, and from other organic vineyards in Niagara, for you to share with friends and family.
