What is Raw Food?
Basically, raw food (sometimes called live or living food) is food that has not been cooked or exposed to temperatures over 118° F. At that temperature, the natural enzymes in food are destroyed. Enzymes are essential for all the chemical processes in your body, especially digestion.
At Bliss Cafe we also purchase as much organic and local food as possible, and dehydrate many foods at harvest time to preserve them for the winter.

Bridgehead is a fairly traded coffee and tea company. In April 2000, Bridgehead (2000) Inc. was formed by three individuals with support from family and friends and on June 17, 2000, Bridgehead opened its flagship coffeehouse at 362 Richmond Rd. in Ottawa, Canada and renewed retail and wholesale sales of coffee and tea.
In June of 2012, Bridgehead opened its own Roastery and now roasts all of its coffee in-house. The Roastery imports green beans from co-ops all over the world and roasts about 6,000 lbs of fairly traded, organic coffee every week. The coffee is used in all of the Ottawa coffeehouses as well as sent to a variety of wholesale customers and online customers all across Canada.
Giddy Yoyo foods are not the same as other organic or fair trade products. While our goods are organic or wild harvested, direct and fairly traded, there are additional attributes that make our products unique. We go to great lengths to source foods nourished by mineral-rich soil & fresh water, and grown in healthy remote environments. Canadian Organic Growers (COG) is a national charitable organization (13014 0494 RR0001) with members in all regions of Canada. COG is connected to the regions through eight regional Chapters, four affiliated organizations, and to the international organic community through membership in the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM).
COG’s membership is diverse and includes farmers, gardeners, processors, retailers, educators, policy-makers, and consumers. Not all COG members run certified organic operations, but they share a vision for a sustainable bioregionally-based organic food system. Our members believe that organic food production is the best choice for the health of consumers and producers, for the protection and enhancement of the environment, and for the sustainability of the food production system. In fact we believe that the survival of our country and even of the planet depends on it.
A quest for great beer, a love of good food and the desire to create an example of agriculture that not only showcases but inspires others to embrace a similar mindset, is what prompted us to purchase a farm and start growing hops. We feel obliged to try and put the ‘culture’ back into the ‘agriculture’ of our local area. We strive to be an example for others who want to balance being an entrepreneur and a steward to the land, whilst making a living by doing what they love.
